Miss Courtney

Courtney Shapley has been studying modern dance, tap, jazz and ballet since the tender age of 3.

In 1994, she was one of a handful of students selected to attend the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts for modern dance. After Governor’s school, Courtney attended The University of the Arts in Philadelphia as well as DeSales University. In Philadelphia, she was a company member of Tap Team II, an innovative tap
company rooted in the traditional hoofing style.

Courtney’s dancing is influenced by the Graham and Horton techniques as well as by the legendary hoofer, Lavaughn Robinson, with whom she had the opportunity to study.

Courtney has choreographed numerous plays and musicals including The Who's Tommy, A Christmas Carole, Psycho Beach Party, and Everybody's a Somebody (which she also co-directed), and she has acted onstage in many productions and in 3 independent films.

She has been teaching professionally since 1997 in the Lehigh Valley and central New Jersey. Her choreography has won numerous awards at competitions across the region.
