Steven Strickland was born and raised in Newark, NJ. Steven started his career in the performing arts at the tender age of four in school, and church theatre. Steven is an actor, dancer-choreographer, singer-songwriter, and host(master of ceremonies).
After graduating from Essex Catholic High School(East Orange, NJ), he furthered his education at Wagner College(Staten Island, NY) as a Theater Arts Major and recipient of the Alumni Theatre Scholarship. Since then, Steven has performed in many Tri-State theatrical productions, and has recently signed with The Carson Adler Agency Inc.(NYC).
As a dancer/choreographer, Steven a.k.a. “ENRGY” honed his skills by taking classes at Broadway Dance Center(NYC), as well as Gallman Dance Theater (Newark, NJ). ENRGY has been choreographing since 1999 , and hasn’t stopped since. Steven is now Founder/CEO of ENRGY Dance Choreography, as well as Creative Director of the Judah Repertory Dance Ministry. Dance styles include Hip-Hop, Funk w/Street Jazz infusion, Popping, Waving, and Liturgical/Praise Dance. Choreography and performance credits include New Artist Showcases and/or videos featuring artists from Gospocentric Records, PraiseMusic, Church House Music, Sony Records, Quan Entertainment/Desert Storm, Satori Productions, PNF Musik, The National Conference of The Boys & Girls Clubs of America, The All Stars Project Inc., Mental Food Productions, and Newark Symphony Hall Talent Showcase( 1st place Dance competition winner). Television appearances included BET, UPN, & FOX Sports Network. He is currently choreographing stage performances for New Artist showcases in the Tri-state area, as well as teaching Hip-Hop. Steven loves performing and creating challenging and great choreography. Group & private lessons available upon request.
