Miss Lori

Lori Wighard has been dancing for as long as she can remember. She began taking classes at 2 1/2 years old and hasn’t slowed down since. Throughout grade school and high school, Lori danced along side Ms. Kim at an area dance studio where they created memories together in several recitals and competitions.

She fell in love with dancing and went on to graduate from Montclair State University with a bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance. Upon graduation, Lori became a member of the Nikolais and Murray Louis Dance Ensemble based in NYC. She continued to perform in showcases at Montclair State University and was invited to teach several movement and choreography classes there.

In 1996, Lori was reunited with Ms. Kim, as she began teaching ballet, tap, jazz, and modern classes at Broadway Bound Dance Center. She has enjoyed teaching movement skills to a new generation of dancers who will create wonderful memories of their own.

Lori continues to substitute teach at BBDC but has gone on to graduate with a Master’s of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. She is a licensed pediatric occupational therapist who has worked in school systems, private clinics and home-based therapy.

Recently, Lori created a dance program for children with special needs. “Creative Wings Movement” offers small class sizes with a therapeutic teaching style that allows children who require more individualized attention to “dance their hearts out!”.

This program is a dream come true for Lori. She is able to combine her passion for dance with her passion for helping children function to the best of their ability. She believes that all children should have the opportunity to create and explore their own form of movement expression.
